Chronicles of a Pseudo Stylist

Fashion and Style combined with Polyvore sets

Digital Coverage of MBNYFW Day 2: Czar by Cesar Galindo

Cesar Galindo has been in the fashion industry for a long time, I remember hearing and seeing his label, Cesar Galindo, when I was younger. A few years back he was on Elle Magazine creative director and stylist Joe Zee’s Sundance Channel series “On the Line with Joe Zee”, and since that appearance, it appears things have changed for the better for Galindo. I can say with what I had seen was proof positive that the help he received from Joe Zee was just one step up to Galindo making it back on top. Variety is good when your overall collection is cohesive. Having an extensive color palette for said collection also helps.

The extensive color palette that I speak of is sky blue, white, beige, blue, ivory, blue green, light purple, red, royal blue, red violet, gold, and silver. I do say that I love how he embraced color in a plushly luxurious fashion that does this collection justice. He had a stunning variety of separates and dresses, and the accessories I saw on some models were very impressive. For example there were a few accessories I saw on the models that stood out to me, one of them being the leather arm warmers that were sported in a few looks and leather opera gloves. I fell in love with an off-the shoulder dress and a batwing sleeve top .

Jumpsuits are in, especially with the variations I saw, one being sequined and the other being a harem-type jumpsuit. There were fur trims and fur used, cap sleeves, a bubble skirt, bubble dress, dolman sleeves, sequins, cowl neckline, scoop back, taffeta, shrugs, cropped pants, mini dresses, sheer fabrics, evening gowns, floor length skirt, funnel neck dress, prints, one shoulder dress, halter top, and slit skirts. I honestly didn’t think the bubble skirt or the dress that had a bubble skirt would even appear on the runway for a few more seasons, but I was wrong. Chances are it could catch on again after a few seasons by other designers, but only time will tell. All in all, I loved the show!

It was a great show, and I love how he embraced color fearlessly. I can see this line being worn by people, meaning that the pieces could be worn as outfits by them. Some of his outfits had a Bob Mackie aesthete going, which is one of my favorite aesthetes ever. Especially since I’m a Bob Mackie fan!
